Solar System

Amazing Solar System

Solar system is the planetary system of eight planets which are rotating and revoluting around the Sun. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are the members of Sun and its family. It also includes satellites of planets, comets, asteroids and meteoroids. Solar system is situated in milky way galaxy.

In the solar system there are two kinds of planets. They are the interior planets or the terrestrial planets and superior planets or the Javian planets. Terrestrial planets are the innermost planets in the solar system, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. They are close to the Sun and have rocky surfaces. Javian planets are the outermost planets in the solar system, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. They are away from the Sun and are gas giants.

To be considered as a planet in the solar system a celestial body must have 3 qualifications or characteristics. They are, it must have a regular orbit, it must have a gloanal shop and it must rotate and revolute.

At present Pluto is not considered as a planet. It is because pluto hasn’t a regular orbit.

The Sun, our star is the head of the solar system. It burns millions and millions of its substances to provide heat and light to us. Sun’s gravitation al power keeps the planets moving around it. Sun’s outermost layer is called the photosphere. Surface temperature of the Sun is about 6000 c and at the centre it is about 15 million c.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It hasn’t an atmosphere or a natural satellite. Its surface is bare, rocky and covered with craters. Mercury is about 58 million km away from the Sun.

2nd planet in the solar system is Venus. It is the closest planet to the Earth. It is the hottest planet in the solar system as it has an atmosphere filled with carbon dioxide. Venus is also called the morning star and evening star when we see it in the sky before sunrise an after sunset respectively. It is about 108 million km away from the Sun.

Earth, our home is the 3rd planet in the solar system. It is the only planet having a hydrosphere as well as living beings. Earth has many differences. It has 1 natural satellite which is called “Moon”. Earth is about 150 million km away from the Sun.

Clad and rocky Mars is the 4th planet in the solar system. It is also known as the red planet. It has two natural satellites which are called “Deimos and Phobos”. It is about 228 million km away from the Sun.
5th planet in the solar system is the giant Jupiter. It is the biggest planet in the solar system. It is gas giant as well as a ringed planet. Jupiter has 16 satellites. IO, Callisto, Europa, Ganymede and Helium. It is about 778 million km away from the Sun.

Saturn is the 6th planet in solar system. It is the most beautiful planet in the solar system it is also a gas giant. It has 17 satellites. Titan is the largest among them.

Uranus and Neptune are the farthest planets from the Sun. They both have atmospheres and rings around them. Uranus has 17 satellites while Neptune having 8 natural satellites.

Most of the things in the solar system is a mystery yet. We have just found out a little bit about it. We have more to discover. Will we able to solve this mystery completely?
